The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 Series are high-quality USB flash drives that provide enterprise-grade security with FIPS 197 certified AES 256-bit hardware encryption in XTS mode, including BadUSB protections using digitally signed firmware and against brute force password attacks. The VP50 series is also TAA compliant. Because it is encrypted storage under physical control of the user, the VP50 Series offers significantly better data protection than the Internet or cloud services. Vault Privacy 50 supports multi-password option (admin, user and one-time recovery) with complex or passphrase modes. This makes it easier to restore access to the data if one of the passwords is forgotten. Traditional complex mode allows passwords of 6 to 16 characters using 3 of 4 character sets. The new passphrase mode allows a numeric PIN, a sentence, a word list or even texts between 10 and 64 characters long. The administrator can enable a user and one-time recovery password or reset the user password to restore data access. To make password entry easier, the "eye" icon can be activated to display the entered password, reducing typing errors and therefore fewer failed login attempts. Brute force attack protection locks user or one-time recovery passwords after 10 invalid passwords entered in a row and crypto-erases the USB stick after 10 incorrect entries in a row. To protect against potential malware on untrusted systems, both the administrator and the user can set write-protect mode to make the drive read-only. In addition, the integrated virtual keyboard protects passwords from keyloggers or screenloggers. The FIPS 197-certified and TAA-compliant VP50 Series USB flash drives can be customized by organizations for integration into standard endpoint management software with a product identifier (PID) and configured to meet the organization's IT and cybersecurity needs using Kingston's Customization Program. Small and medium-sized businesses can use the Admin role to manage their drives locally, e.g. For example, to configure or reset user or employee one-time recovery passwords, restore data access to locked drives, and comply with laws and regulations when forensics are required.
